Tame wildlife !
I am a member of a boat club normally attend twice a week , at the club we have visits from the local wild life throughout the year
1st up is a vixen this fox has been visiting the club for around 5 years , its unusual because she has one rear leg missing
She has been befriended by one member who has over the years looked after her , he gives her worm tablets and bob martin tablets
When she first ventured into the boat club yard she was very timed and looked a mess , now she look very healthy and is nearly tame , Peter can put some dog food down and the fox will walk up to within 3 or 4 feet of humans and eat the food , Last night we had a committee meeting and had a visit from the fox , she walked into the club house and half way down the the building and did not bat an eyelid
Not sure if its a good thing to be so tame or not
Also in early spring we get regular visits form wagtails , one member has his boat on a pole mooring and the rear cockpit is open , we us this as the club cafe and sit around the stern drinking tea eating pork pies , cake and biscuits ( sorry I mean boating :) )
The wagtails come on board and walk around in between our legs picking up the crumbs , this only happens when they have chicks to feed , as soon as the chicks leave the nest we are no longer needed and we dont get any more visits
When its raining we all congregate in Rays wheelhouse to do our boating ;) and they even come inside the wheelhouse picking up the bits :)
Its great to see them close up , Next year I am going to see if I can get some photos of this event
Anyone else have any close encounters with nature ? :)
