View Full Version : Choosing an amplifier for Monitor Audio BX2.
I'm planning to change my amplifier with a new one that matches my new pair of Monitor Audio BX2 speakers.
Marantz PM6004 and Rotel RA-10 are, at the moment, the candidates.
I would appreciate any comment about matching BX2s with these (or others) amplifiers, preferably based on direct experience.
Thank you in advance.

i used a marantz pm8003 with some BX2's for a while though eventually found this pairing rather wearing on my ears
Thank you for your comment, James.
I took my Brio-R round to a mate who has a pair of BX2. We listened happily all evening and he quickly sought one out second hand and is very happy with it.
I used to have a pair of RX but I can't get on with rear ported designs in my room but the best match I found for them was Arcam. I'd suggest one of their FMJ designs for a listen.

I use a pair of BR2's on the end of a Denon micro system in the kitchen but have tried them in the main system...
I cant really speak for current model amplifiers but a Myst TMA3 sounded very good with them, personally I would consider upgrading the source first but thats just me... Those Sony amps aren't that bad.

Thank you for your comments, Richard. Both options imply a bigger budget, but I will take them into account.

Thank you James. Your comment opens a completely new way... I'm not sure that I'm ready to follow it.
