A very belated hello

Hi guys I hadn't even noticed this part of the forum until very recently. I happened to stumble across this forum on a google search and it seems a good one. I really started getting more into music systems after intially purchasing a kenwood mini system when I was at school, months later, a friend a mine purchased a second hand setup consisting of Marantz and Rotel and I was blown away.

Anyways after purchasing a few different systems, my current system consists of ...
Acoustic Energy Neo 3
NAD C352
PS3 playing lossless files attached to Beresford 6/3

It sounds great particularly when I play it a bit louder, I have heard that people start losing their hearing at a certain age anyway so might as well make the most of it while I can :lolsign:

Thanks, well my musical tastes are quite varied but as a summary, the two most popular genres of mine are rock and rap music, some dance music to. Bite your tongue on any responses questioning putting rap together with music :)

Hi Dave... I must admit that I enjoy a bit of rap music sometimes. NWA, Insane Clown Posse, DJ Vadim and stuff on his Jazz Fudge label (avant-garde rap, you betcha!). I was a big collector of the Ninja Tune label back in the 90's, some great stuff on their early releases (The Herbaliser springs to mind :)) I have a thing about rapping in French too! Rap is a broad church and the UK scene is probably more interesting than the US one (IMHO!).

Nothing wrong with broad music tastes and good sense to 'fess up to liking stuff that 'audiophiles' tend to dismiss! There's a world of stuff out there!

Hi Davey. How can I play lossless files on the PS3? I have been trying without success.

Exactly, I have varied taste, even some pop music, don't ask!. Well James the easiest thing to do is purchase an external hdd (this way you don't need to leave the computer on) rip all of your cds using a freeware program called express rip, make sure you select wav as the output format, click on encoder settings, select the format as PCM uncompressed, select 44100 Hz 16 Bits Stereo, then rip cd.

Once you have done so, hopefully express rip will recognise the songs you have on there, will finish ripping them, then you just need to transfer them to your external hdd. Connect the external hdd to your ps3 and then you are away.
