One thing i never ever did was entertain Pre recorded Cassettes :nono:

No worries, dude. I largely agree, but I suspect that the new ones will sound a bit better, simply because they're 'specialist' items, and not mass-produced by the tens of thousands, like they were in the old days! :)

Also, for those of us with Naks, they've always made the most of the sound of pre-recorded cassettes, so I'm looking forward to trying some. Aside from that, if you click on the 'Stores' list, some of the independent music shops shown will also sell vinyl, and might be unknown to you (or others here), thus worth checking out

Hi Hamish,

Always nice to see you popping in, mate. Hope all is well :)

Thanks for the info, although unfortunately I don't 'do' Twitter. Some of the other guys here, though, might!

Big piece on BBC this morning. Including another music journalist twat going on about pops and scratches of vinyl and using the term needle . Unfortunately these 'new' cassettes will just be digital files transferred to tape which rather reduces the analogue nature of the format. Perhaps if you could get an adaptor to plug in the MP3 socket of modern cars there might be a reasonable market. Ironically Sony stopped making Walkmans a few months back.

Yup, Paul, that's what inspired me to start this thread. I tried to find a link to the relevant clip, on BBC iPlayer, but couldn't find it - despite looking everywhere!

Stay 100% original to the Analogue or don't bother i say.. I have loads of Vinyl re-issues which are Digtally scrotumized. I can hear it's all wrong imho..i don't buy nor play them anymore, i may aswell listern to CD's..100% Analogue records are a different story, i love to play them..

One thing that gets up my back it is idiots that come along with the 'Records sound dull & crackly', 'Tapes sounded poor' etc etc. The easy responce is: buy a good quality Turntable & Cassette machine, look after your records & use good quality tape it's as simple as that.

Heard this on Radio 4 at the same time you made the post... great, must get my Nak 7 dusted and serviced. Can remember when you could get get both sides of one LP on a 90 A side and then both sides of another fave LP on side B to use in the car of the time. Also, if you felt lazy and didn't want to haul a LP off the shelf you could listen on your cassette deck... mines still in it's same pozzy :D Sorry folks but digital just isn't fun, the difference between a blow up doll or the real thing

Hi Hamish, how you doing me ol' mucker?

Not to bad Chris, thanks! Busy busy busy with work! Home life is wonderful, what with being the proud father of the cutest lunatic (2 year old) going. Stumbled across a community cooperative that leases a load of land near me today, going to photographically document the project i think and maybe get a allotment there ... So that's pretty exciting!
How's life with you?
I went back to that house in Wales this year... Took some shots with a couple of film cameras ... One being a large format pinhole, although I am yet to process the negs ... When I do, I will let you know :)
You good?

Yes, pretty good thanks mate - my lunatic 2 year old grew up and put another 20 yrs on the clock, seemingly without me noticing and she's just finished uni this summer - yoiks!
I'd like to see some more shots of the house when you're ready - messing about with large format pinholes sounds like a fab pastime!
