Very nice ! I would say that range was Technics peak... All downhill thereafter minus a couple of exceptions.

Thanks lads,Yes when things were made proper :D.I have been searching for one since I got the Technics se-9600 amp, another big beast built like and weighs and much as a tank.It was still a big decision to make given the price. But I don't think I would have been happy until I got one,Nothing like a matching set.
Yes James Technics finest from mid 70's. I would like a tape player from the same range/era:D

Loverly but uttery sit inside. I wouldnt trust its reliability with a barge pole.

The most common issue I've had to fix on these old Technics is always the big PSU smoothing caps that dry up & go short circuit and take out a rectifier but nothing more.

Very clean looking inside I always find that I pick up kit that has 20 years worth of dust and cobwebs

Ps what's the bit of kit in the background of your picture?

Oh its always like that for me too... I hate it when the dust is so old its become impregnated into the circuit board

If something's going to be staying long term I give it a full strip down, at one point I had a 'Trio KA-8100' that was so bad I had to leave the PCB in a bath of distilled water & isopropyl overnight... Looked like brand spanking new afterwards though

Looking at all the tape options on the amp it looks like a decent piece of kit to make cassette recordings with, mind you I suppose if you wanted to do that you'd buy a nak:doh:
