Following Macca's admission about having to tidy up, I thought that I would post some pics of my bits of crap "in the real" (as they might say in good ol US of A)

I used to keep it all pristine and neat, but I now honestly think that a bit (well a lot) of dust and randomly arranged kit does wonders for the sound:D

Pride of place are some Klipsch that I bought from Bev (ninanina) a few months ago. Sitting on top are some open baffle Goodmans ICT full rangers that I got from a Tonbridge audiojumble some years ago. I am a certified tinkerer and love trying "additional bits" here and there. I feel that the Klipsch are slightly lacking in the mid range and a small amount of the ICT's corrects this. They are driven by a Class D amp (yes- the one on the floor at 12v only so low power)

The main amps are tweaked Cambridge P500's converted to bridged operation.

I will leave anyone who is interested to ask about the other crap that is seen in the pics. The Pre is a DIY Lightspeed and on top is a DIY SOAP (Simple Op-Amp Pre) from boards in a group buy on Diyaudio some years ago. I have only just stuck this in the system and am not sure that the L/S needs the added active stage.

Lovin the power amps even though bridged amps have driving issues including my own Rotel's. There is just something nice about a small stack of power amps.

There is some controversy as to exactly what bridging does. It is said that you can increase the power by up to 4x, some say only 2x, but what it also does is increase the current delivery which is great for driving speakers.

Now that's how a proper Hifi and room should look like. Can't wait to hear it... Very impressive indeed :)

If anyone is interested this is a pic of the bridging module. The board only was sourced through EPE (Everyday Practical Electronics) it was not a kit.

Geoff when you came over my system was only a shadow of it's former self having sold my back loaded horns and a pair of enormous Jamo PA speakers with horn midrange and 15" bass drivers. I love it up-front and ballsy with deep tight bass. The Klipsch have most of what I want, but I really need to go bigger again. Big is best....init?!

No, the down-size will happen, but Mrs Puffin has another years contract (which was not expected and very last minute) so not as pressing as it might have been.

Well just say if you fancy trying my headphones and valve amp. They are not too shabby.

Sounds like bigger Klipsch are needed!
