WTB or Swap for Rothwell Attenuators

Hi Guys

Anybody out there have a set of Rothwell Attenuators...either RCA or XLR or both ( The project I have in mind really needs me to be able to try both). With funds being very tight (due to lack of job)..they would need to be modest money or would you be interested/prepared to do a swop for them. I am sure I can find something that might be of interest to you.

Hi Neil,
A cheaper way may be to get a range of resistors and try them in your existing i/c's.Try various values till you have the attenuation you are happy with.Resistors can be had very cheaply.

I had thought about that, but the Rothwell way suits this better. I have the lend of a Bat Vk3i Pre. Unlike other Bat pre's its an all valve affair with valve rectification. Only issue is its output is way to high for the power amps I want to try with it. The control I have on the volume is ridiculously small and its overloading the inputs on both XLR and RCA output. The interconnects I have don't really lend them selves to resistor use and if this isn't a goer I can off load the Rothwells.

I am going to swop some Quad 2 (2 working, 1 for spares)amplifiers and a 22 pre for the Bat pre. I never got round to having them updated etc so I want to move them on...for something I would like, and the Bat pre fits nicely with what I had in mind, if I can lower its output.

Spec is similar to this, this spec is for the newer X version.

Update: I can't find the buggers (box is there, but no attenuators). I'll keep looking, but I do also have a Kimber attenuated cable (RCA-RCA; -16dB) which is also surplus to requirements and which may be of use.

Let me know how you get on. The Kimber cable idea is a good one but doesn't suit as I want/need to continue with my existing cables. Let me know if you find them. I know what its like to mislay something...I have a small plastic tray full of Ecc83 valves, white and yellow label Mullards a made in Japan Toshiba and others and I can't find them :doh: There are not that many places where they could be but so far.... Nope.

Ay up there...!!! I have a redundant pair of Rothwell attenuators I no longer need and would let you have them for a fiver to cover postage costs. They are -10db.
