Total Rewind: The Audio Cassette is fifty years and on a revival

It was fifty years ago when the audio cassette had its first release.
I was reading an article about it on The Guardian and felt that it was interesting enough to link to it. A very well written and informative article and well worth taking the time to read.

Ive never stopped using Cassette ever since i was a young un' I think people that diss cassette are pretty much the same people who diss Records, thing being they have probably had poor cassette decks & turntables to play them on..

More seriously, the sound you can get from a sony walkman will blow an iPod to pieces... Seriously.
As long as the cassette is good quality and recorded well... You can bring that lovely analogue sound pretty much anywhere you want!

A no brainer really.

And that without even talking about the RETRO appeal!
Hypsters will soon (very soon, maybe are already) be swinging their yellow Sonys all over East London...:D

Cassette is a thing of beauty have only recently dug my one out and to be honest i dont know why i put it away

currently playing it through a sansui qrx 5500 and it sounds excellent

they are starting a cassette Day this year , same as RSD record store day
not ordered any yet as none of my clients have tape decks

I am a 60 plus who used cassettes in the past and still does. I acquired a 3 head prof. Denon cassette deck some years ago and it makes superb recordings. Having a large archive of recordings from the radio I need a cassette deck. Not for me to transfer them all to a digital medium. They work as cassettes and the recordings can easily be listened to.
I am not rejecting digital media. I have a prof. Tascam minidisc and CD recorder. They are both superb.
I just use the different media for the appropriate task. I even have a Sony reel to reel deck...
