New / Old guy checking in.

Been a member on some other forums for quite a while, but read about this place and the general appreciation for Vintage Technics Spinners.. I used to do some repair work on the MK2 decks a few years ago for some local DJ's after getting a couple of them cheaply and refurbishing them.. and then got in a pinch and sold my 1200's off last year..

I recently got back into vinyl and have acquired both a pristine SL-1200 (original model) and just two days ago an MK2.

Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Hi Chris
Welcome to AoS.
I wonder what sort of gear you use other than that turntable and what sort of music you like?

Cheers

Welcome to AoS Chris.

With a user name like yours, I think I can guess what your avatar might be when you supply one. ;)

Enjoy the forum

So, the big question......Escher.....artist or mathematician?

Ahh that's the question. I've always thought of him as an artist with a exceptional gift for spatial relationships; ie "seeing the world mathematically". Imagine what he would have done with fractals... His eluded to them with some of his work (circle limit)...

I've never used an Escher avatar, but now I may have to!

My 1200-MK2 had pretty bad paint, the previous owner scratched his initials in it along with his phone number, so its in the process of a refurb... Should prove interesting, trying something I have not done before with textured (stone colored) paint..

On the MK2 I also polished some surfaces of the tonearm support assembly where the paint was rubbed / scratched, I think it looks pretty good.

Welcome aboard mate.

Not seen an original 1200 so that's nice to see.

This place is a Techie nerds delight, full of knowledgeable people, some of whom seem to know what they are doing but the rest of us are OK :) so dive in and have fun.

Greetings Chris,

Like the Escher avatar. I was always fascinated by Escher's work.

Yes there are a lot of Techie users here. The poor lads haven't grown out of them yet.
