Given ? You lucky barsteward !
The pre is a passive & the power is dual mono apparently designed by Jeff Rowland 'fraid I don't know much more than that.
Contact "Meninblack" over on the wigwam for more info, he owned some for a couple of years... Bought & sold for around £1200 the pair IIRC.

There was also an excellent phono stage that made up the amp set. The power amp is a peach - the best bit of the three.
I had a Michi power amp a few years back and I wasn't all that impressed by it UNTIL I put a fancy support underneath it which tightened up the bottom end by no small amount. It was the ponderous bass that I didn't like about the amp and although the support did really good things to the sound, forking out for a Super Kinabaloo that cost more than the amp wasn't justifiable

Way back when, I had the very first Michi power-amp delivered to my shop. The carton was unmarked and the amp looked, as it was, brand new. I plugged it in, turned it on and...... nothing. Cut a long story short, in transit, the transformer had badly distorted the too thin chassis and damaged the internals. Imagine the whole lot being dropped, the weight of the transformer keeps moving whilst the chassis remains still. Result - a very twisted chassis.
A few weeks later and a re-vamped, reinforced Michi arrives. I plugged it in with a pre, put on some music for it to warm and went upstairs. The radio was on and as i entered the room, there was a roar and a whistle, getting louder and higher pitched before it sputtered out. Turns out it was the Michi not happy driving our usual 14 mtrs of Furukawa speaker cable, went into oscillation and destroyed itself.
It was some weeks before we received a modifiied and more stable Michi to try. After that they were fine..
Well i got made an offer i couldnt refuse so these have been sold didnt expect that .

Well I hope it was a very good offer. By that I mean a high one, otherwise I fear you just let some real gems slip through your fingers for peanuts.

High or low price Dan, they were miles better than your Quad amps.

Many years ago, my father had the Rotel Michi passive pre with the big power amp. Lovely pieces of kit!!!!

Yup, that michi power amp was a heavy thing!!!
Oh yes over a £1000 tbh they had much more oomph than the Quads but the Quads are so smooth sounding well to me anyway and i like what they do.
I've been after an RHT-10 tuner for yonks as well but (a) they are very rare and (b) I would very rarely be able to afford one.

It's looking like I may be adding a Rotel Michi RHC10 pre and RHB10 power amp to my current hi-fi system within the next month or so, a friend of mine has a pair of these and letting them go etc... Both in great condition and recently fully serviced.
Exciting audio times ahead
