View Full Version : Techie only playing through one channel
Well got the two techies home, tested the nice one and it worked fine, packed it up and sent it off (had to sell due to major car problems). Today I fitted an AT-95E and hooked the tattier one up, guess what, it only plays through one channel.
The cartridge is fine, tried it in the Lenco I'm fettling so I need to look elsewhere. Where would you start, take the bottom off and remove the arm? The cable looks ok from the deck to the phono plugs...

Look at the small board below the arm base where the arm leads are soldered, a dry or broken solder joint is the likeliest culprit.

Could be a broken cartridge wire inside the arm or inside just before the tags where they fit onto the cartridge pins
Get a pillow to rest it upon, remove the headshell, secure the arm and flip your table over.

Carefully remove this cover.

And look here, make sure all the solder connections are intact.
Great, will do that at the weekend when I've got some daylight...

Multimeter with continuity Bleep on. Start with the internal arm wire from cart tags to PCB termination, if ok move to interconnect PCB termination to lead plugs..
Well finally got round to buying a multimeter, tracked it down to a damaged rca plug, pop out and pick one up tomorrow and it's sorted. Thanks for the help everyone, especially the pictures....
