Are there many Astin Trew fans here? I have just been trawling through my old hifi world magazines and there was a clump of them eulogising about Astin Trew products. And just as when they started, the articles and recommendations/reviews etc seems to stop. I don't actually know anyone or met anyone who owns any of their products yet i know they are still manufacturing tasty looking gear. What's the story morning glory?
In addition, i have rarely seen any second hand stuff for sale so i am guessing it is really as good as HFW made out or they never really sold much? I would love to hear some of their stuff!:)

The old cd players used to be pretty well regarding in hifi world a number of years back. I heard one and can agree with them (for once)! They also changed there name to Edgar, I think. I have seen a few bits for sale and they tend to get semi decent prices.

The company is still going strong and doing very nicely - their new hybrid DAC was reviewed in Hi-Fi News only last month.

As to Edgar, they were nothing to do with AstinTrew. They were a Slovakian company that changed their name to Canor.

A friend of mine had the Edgar CD player (the one with the wooden facia), i liked it alot, never see them come up for sale second hand. I would like to hear the Astin Trew, as i been told that they are very similar, but i would need to hear for myself..

Most of there production goes abroad for export mainly Asia. We ignore many a good Audio company in our own Country
Use a Astin Trew Concorde Valve Dac myself for the last year , about a 1/3rd of the price of my last highly reviewed one at £12k

Astin Trew are very much alive and well here in the UK.

We have been informed there are some exciting new products which will be released shortly

I heard the Astin Trew 3500+ CDP last year and I really liked it, it danced along with a lively enthusiasm, at £1,525 (then) I thought it was good VFM.

I've had the 3500+ CDP - a nice piece of kit. Not wildly wonderful, but more than just decent, imo.
