I have been reading up on sound

Apparently nothing makes sound ! only waves

its only when the waves reach our ears that waves are converted to sound

Example

If a tree falls over in a forest the movement would only make waves , If no one was in the Forrest
no conversion would take place so no sound would be herd :)

Being polite, I'll just say I'll take this with a pinch of salt!

True, waves are are sound and the waves were made by something, therefore that something made sound. Planes break the sound barrier, nobody necessarily hears this. Sound is sound whether it is heard or perceived. Merely because in human terms it has not been heard does not mean it does not exist. After all, not all sound exists within the audible spectrum. The argument is basically semantic.
