If you have been there you would never forget it. The shop is 300m2, but you can only walk into about 4m. why? because Sayed Ali likes his old kit. It is stacked to shoulder height everywhere.
There are old sansui, leak, teac, and technics and quads(lots) and a wurlitzer full of 50s records, and everything you thought you forgot you will remember again. Stunning
Why is there so much stuff? well, just ask for a price. A rather rough technics 1200 mk2 was 350 GBP. Not sure he actually want to sell it, or any of the other kit.
If you happen to be in the neighborhood, it will surprise you.
Good to see he is still going.
Think a lot of the stuff is hired for films.
Used to be a very good 2nd hand hi fi shop a few yards further down but has now gone.

That was Denis Tricket's place. His wealth of knowledge was amazing and his prices were always reasonable. Sadly he passed away a few years ago.

That was Denys Trickett and I knew him well. I was often popping in there and having a poke round. He used to get some great bits (and old junk). He was a bit grumpy, but OK once he got to know you.

Was Denys's shop at the same address in Bell Street and do you recall what the business's name was?

Yes it was Bell Street about 200 yards from the station. Can't remember what was written above the shop though.

In six years from now (hard to believe I know) that Technics turntable will be worth every penny of £900 - £1200.
Such machinery in working condition now is worth what he is asking - as it stands a Technics 1500 open reel machine is worth the best part of £2000 restored and £950 completely broken and needing restoration.
Very strange thing the whole "aspiration to own" vintage technology now but it is however very real.
The reality is that this machinery is no longer manufactured & people seem to want it.
It will not be long before machinery that is able to produce master material to play on vintage gear will be worth a house as it once was during the 1970's & 80's...
