Hi All,

Help/advice needed. I'm looking for a cheap (as in chips) 'get me started' phono stage to build/bodge, any suggestions/pointers gratefully received.

Cheers,
Mike.

PM me and we can talk bizz. I got one that gets good mentions on the net for its price versus performance. At the same time it is a good starting point to mod. Is £40 with delivery included cheap enough for its M and MM capability? If not, I got one you can have for £25 that is only MM.

Why not have the discussion on the forum so that others interested can benefit from the information?

Or is it a super-top secret, shady dealings, funny handshakes kinda thang? ;)

Marco.

Hi Sensimilia (the seedless one!) http://ak.imgag.com/imgag/product/thumbs/3137712a.gif

Lemme know (in a PM if you prefer) what you're selling, and I'll let you know if I'm interested! http://ak.imgag.com/imgag/product/thumbs/3125788a.gif

Ooh!

Just found out today I'll be getting a bonus in March's salery!
Something a little more exotic may well be on the cards now.

Probably something from the WD catalogue. Yay!

Cheers,
Mike.

Mate - have a look here http://sound.westhost.com/p25_fig2.gif
If you are handy with the hot stick and electrical glue then this is the baby for you. I built one of these yonks ago, damn fine it was. If you don't fancy it or are looking for something cheaper then Maplin do a rough and ready job - see http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=28732&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=phono%20pre%20amp&doy=29m2
Would recommend the DIY one though, that was designed by John Linsley Hood.

Hmmm... Looks interesting, and quite simple (which is always nice) but I'm a bit of a fan of 'glowing bottles' these days!

I might try both!

Cheers,
Mike.

P.S. Has Madame Dominatrix been shown the door yet? :lolsign:

The puresound Phonostage is a very good one, I'd give that a try if you have the spare cutter Mike.

Yes, bottles are good. I have never built a pre amp with valves before so can't recommend a diy one. Miss Strict will be going soon, we have a new banner - thanks Rob :-) but I need to upgrade 2 web sites to install it - one I have not sussed out yet.
If anybody asks, we haven't burnt her :-)
