As the title says, please either expand the message quota to around 500 or even better, do away with it all together. To my knowledge AoS is the only forum I've been a member of to have a max quota for PM's... :eyebrows:

Delete your outbox messages should give you more inbox room, i think im right

I don't save my sent messages as a rule, unless they are important... ;)

It is surprising how quickly one can fill the quota of 100 messages (in total). But be glad - it used to be limited to 50!

As André has pointed out, delete the sent messages: they will be reproduced in the reply.

One thing I have noted in the 'new' system, is the number of PMs recorded is not that obvious: and there is nothing that annoys me more than after composing a PM, only to be told that it cannot be sent as I have reached the limit!

I personally don't find it any hardship to clear old unwanted messages now and then.

Neither do I Geoff, except I now have an inbox full of messages that I need to keep hold of for various reasons. It's an unnecessary restriction in my view...

There's a way round that. Use a 'screenshot' application and save them on your computer in a dedicated file.

If you're interested here's a link to a review and free download: http://download.cnet.com/Gadwin-PrintScreen/3000-2094_4-10123018.html?tag=mncol;1

It's the one I use. Comes in very handy on occasions.

Dave,
I agree with you it's an unnecessary restriction given how little disk storage on the server the PMs take.
My strategy is to take PM threads to email if it looks like an ongoing conversation.

That app is a complete faff Geoff, sorry mate but its gone. I'm sticking to my guns on this one. Cheers for the support Jason, we can't be the only members who think this way. Of course it is possible to work within the set limits, by why should we have to?

You can create files within you message area, transfer the messages into a File then delete the messages, you should be back to empty then..Or you can just delete files as they are generally only tickle tackle anyway :D

Every forum I am a member of has a PM message storage limit; the AoS one is quite generous compared to some.

We can accommodate users of good standing requiring more than 100 stored messages. It's done on request. I'll add you to this group Dave.

100 PM's is good for most users not requiring a significant archive of messages. As Andr'e mentions, you can save you old PM's to a text or .csv file. CSV files will open in Excel. The text file will open in notepad, useful if you just want a record of previous conversations, but don't have a need to reply to something you received many months ago.

Same here, i've never reached the limit on any of the 3 forums i frequent, i mostly use PM for classifieds, after which it's deleted after completion of deal.

I keep pms and choosing which to delete once I reach the limit is at times hard to do :( I save emails too I am a message hoarder lol

AOS is better than most other forums but 100 in my case is/was reached quite quickly. lol

One thing i have an issue with is, when ever i send a message to someone, the message send is never in my out box when i look, it's as if it send's & delete's

'Settings' on the Navbar up top, General Settings on the left hand side, scroll down: Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default

This link should take you to the page in your Profile editor...

I am forever deleting messages to keep within my 100 allotted amount

It becomes very difficult to decide which ones to delete, and to be fair I'm deleting ones I would rather not delete

Can I have my 100 extended?

Thanks
