Speakers advice please

I own a Quad 304 pre amp and a 306 power amp, can anyone give suggestions to what speakers will suit these, i am by no means an expert on this matter and any advice would be more than welcome, mainly listening to blues and acoustic music on vinyl, they are for use in a living room of 15' x 28' :scratch:

Harbeth - an absolute must for that amplification and your music tastes, acoustic especially (IMHO of course).

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately my budget is going to be around £300 so will be looking at used i expect, i would probably push a bit further but as this is my first venture into setting myself i need to make sure i am getting the right equipment

Hi Kevin,

I have a pair of Harbeth HL3 with stands, would let them go for £300, they have just been fitted with a new set of Audax tweeters from Falcon Acoustics.

Big room, those little Harbeth speakers will struggle unless you are listening at low levels and/or close to them.

Thanks vinylspinner for the offer, as i said earlier i really am a novice and i am still trying to get with grips with what's available, and what advice others can offer me, of course another consideration i have to make is what turntable to look at, i currently am only using a very cheap one and the cartridge is not so good, i am looking at keeping within the same era and are considering a Thorens or Goldring, to be clear though the 28' foot is part of a knockthrough lounge, the speakers would only have to serve half the lenght of the room !

I have a pair of B&W DM2's hanging off the back of my 306 and they sound sensational, and even in excellent condition a pair won't break the bank.
