I am the bewilered owner of new (to me) Technics SL1210 Mk5. Pretty cool looking beast and already I know the upgrade path. Upgrade Number One is to purchase a funky Lava Lamp to sit next to it. But I have a query about rewiring: I have seen some DIY guidance here and youtube on rewiring the Teccie tonearm. It involves a bit of desoldering and resoldering from the innards of the table. What I would rather do is desolder the existing tonearm wire and then have a single run pretty much all the way from the headshell to the phono stage. The phono stage accepts RCA connectors so there will need to be some additional connecting along the line. My questions are:
1. Is there any problem with this approach; and
2. Recommendations on tonearm wire.
For the latter my preference would be silver.
