Quad 303 Look Inside

Hi

Just thought i would look inside my 303 and its nice and clean though not being an expert is this the way the transformer should normal look like :scratch:

Otherwise quite tidy i think

Yeah looks tidy enough. I guess its an early[ish] one ? They turned the capacitors upside down after a while as they can leak onto the driver boards beneath.

Has it ever been serviced ?

Hi James,

I think its an early one. I'm gonna book it in during the week for my local engineer to give it to the once over and hopefully a clean bill of health.

Does look tidy dont it it works fine as does the 33 just dont think it has ever been serviced so will do just to be on the safe side. Give it its due its nearly 40+ years old and could be a lot worse as some i have seen

I serviced the one I had which looked around the same age as yours with new capacitors & trimpots. It tidied the sound up an awful lot, I hadn't realised but it became evident that prior to the service lots of HF information was just being thrown away giving it a warm & wooly "pipe & slippers" sound... It really came to life afterwards.
