Quite coloured with [subjectively] very nice midrange but bass light.

Personally I'd prefer the 770's but on your system in your room only you can tell :)

There to go on a lounge system with either a Marantz MR 230 or a Sony TA-FB920 or a TRIO KA 7100 not sure which yet.

There 770's are superb BTW

Calling Geoff!!! (Walpurgis)

Yes, I've had a pair. They are good fun, as mentioned, a bit coloured and not quite as transparent as the System 600 for instance, but they kick hard and have a tight sound with excellent imaging. They also go ridiculously loud and work well with valve amps. I enjoyed mine.

^^ What he said.

I remember my dad having loads of Tannoy DC'S in the early 00's including 3 x Lancasters 2 x cheviots 1 x Berkeleys & 2 x 3LZ's from a car boot as living in Bournemouth they advertised in like the free ads etc. Once even going to Liverpool to collect a pair of cheviots HAPPY DAYS that was 2004 when the prices were still not know to anyone. As a kid i remember playing out on my bike pre 2003 ish and being able to hear my dads system halfway down the street. Now you just dont see them so i thought i would go mini and try the DC1000's

If you can, try stripping the wires back a little further & threading through both binding posts on each side instead of using the "bars"

How are you finding these Dan? The DC series are possibly the only Tannoy dual-concentrics I could hope to afford so I am intrigued as to their character ;)

Hi dave

Lets just say there staying for the forcible future. There VERY good well worth investing in there a DIFFERENT sounding speaker to most totally different to my rogers but there also excellent overall the tannoys have a nice balance and image excellently & bass is subtle and some say better then the bigger DC'S in the imaging. I'm playing them through a Yamaha CR 820 Receiver and there superb i must try them in the main rig. There tannoy's they give you the classic dual concentric sound my guess is buy a pair if there cheap they do pop up on the bay or maybe invest in DC2000 or 3000.

Playing CSNY Carry on now

Nice, I really liked mine although they sound a little thin in the midrange and treble, compared to the Cheviots I had at the same time anyway. I kept my pair for quite a while though, as second/backup speakers.
They are really easy to drive, nice tight/punchy bass (at the expense of a little depth) and as you mentioned, great imaging.

Interestingly mine had differing binding posts, the standard angled square-cutout bi-wire ones that you see on loads of Tannoys, although they look the same from the front.

Hi Rob

I'm not sure if mine are an early pair S/N are 009256 & 009215 not matched but relatively close i would say.

I wouldn't worry. Tannoys have seldom had consecutive serial numbers, in fact it's very rare (lucky?) to find a pair that do have them. Yours are surprisingly close.

Hi Geoff

Oh really well you learn something new everyday. Its the vocal ability that drives me to them so neutral and clean and thats a 8 inch driver. Would love to go back a revise bigger DC's but times we not good for the family back then we needed the money and something had to go.
