The Sound of Music.

Hello everyone,

I have had a keen interest in listening to music my whole life, and have been constantly frustrated and under whelmed by the equipment that seems to pass in and out of my front door on a seasonal basis, which all seems a bit too up front and artificial for me.

My cinema is at the moment satisfactory for movies but not for music.

It comprises of: JVC DLA RS55, Arcam AV 888, Transparent interconnects, Dune HD, Naim NDX and an ATC 5.1 concept active speaker system.

I've now decided that I will build a separate system for music, this I will keep in the cinema room. I have read some inspirational comments on 6 moons and have decided to try their recommended winning combinations.

I have managed to gather a Michell Gyro Dec with a techno arm a Benz wood sl cart, a Leben RS 30eq, a pair of Auditorium 23 speaker cables so far.

To complete the combination I am looking for a Leben CS600, an Auditorium 23 SUT, Auditorium 23 interconnects and speakers witch will need a lot of thought and listening. I have one concern about this system and that is the power aspect because I am not sure how loud the Leben amp will be for my ears which are used to the ATC's being cranked up.

I wonder if you'd mind editing you profile to show a rough location - rough is fine but 'UK' is a little too vague!

Hi,

I loved the concept of the NDX with some hi-res tracks but am not satisfied with the sound at the moment, I found it to be cold and lacking in depth and detail compared to Vinyl. That said when I get the Leben amp I will be getting a Naim power supply and comparing it again.

I listen to 70's rock, but also country, classical and jazz, what ever my mood.

On the subject of vintage I have fond memories of listening to a Thorens deck through some Tannoy dual concentric speakers around a friends in the 70's

Interesting Andrew. I've heard mixed reviews of the NDX... I'd quite like their new fandangled steamer which I think is based on the NDX!
