Thanks Al, you are quite right l have indeed upgraded my kit,( see profile) l invited my homeboy Audio Al (AA) for a listening sesh and chinwag, first off we listened to my Audionote ANJ/D and we enjoyed these( but l think they may be too big for my den, so we plumbed in the Harbs which we felt were better suited to the room( but the Audionotes l will set up in a bigger room) Al did not bring any pishanto round so we listened to rock, which we both enjoyed and l fannied about with cables, l found some pishanto in the darkest depths of my record collection- which was quite frankly amazing as my storage/filing system is rubbish and we both enjoyed Grace Jones's "Slave to the Rythmn", then l plumbed in Al's SONY TAFB940R which sounded very good l have to say, very full sound with effortless dynamics and power- quite a contrast from my Virtue Audio amp, so it was all good, educational but interesting:)

Yep
Another good session :)
Enjoyed it all and the new kit
Speaker wise in the room I preferred the Harbeths
Very nice cheese and onion french stick for lunch prepared by Jane ( Mrs Tarzan ) and mugs of coffee
Many thanks Andy ;)

Eek! Are those bolts extending to a point lower than the cartridge body?

SME v sit very very low onto the 1210 platter. My cartridge has about 2mm clearance from the vinyl top surface.

Yup, it is very tight in that manner, the cartridge bolts sit around 2-3mm from the surface of the record, and the SME V rides 1-2mm from the edge of the record,( have not measured it though!)

That's why I play all my warped stuff on my 301
Get yourself one of these
5925 P0925 Cartridge Spacer (Black Chrome) SV
Available direct from SME it will give you quite a lot more height clearance
Thanks for the heads up Paul, but l have not had a record snag yet...........
good oh, a useful accessory to have though , I find on my V with some small carts the rear of the V,s arm tube can rub as the arm nears the records centre .
very stylish 1200 by the way , clean and simple, lovely:)

Ta, l think the V really looks cool on the SL1200, especially with the Oyaide record weight, the V is a timeless piece of hi fi porn, l never get sick of looking at it:youtheman:
