It is with a heavy heart that l write this today we lost Roger (Rogie for short), the best friend anyone could ever have, thank you for the unconditional love you gave us, he came to us a rescue dog with some nervousness issues which we worked on, and he came out of his shell, but generally, laid back and friendly which but what gentle, soppy loving boy he turned out to be! He loved people and people loved him, quite a celebrity on his walks- you cannot have enough hugs!

So l will now raise a glass to him.

RIP Rogie, the best friend we ever had.

Hi

Sorry for your loss Andy. Its hard to let a very dear friend go 2 years ago we lost a Labrador "ridge back" to epilepsy in the end it got too much for the little lamb he did fight right through to the end. I do sheer a tear occasionally i just miss him so much he was only 3 and a half no age

So sorry to hear that, I don't know what I'd do without my beloved Jake (lab). Probably the last thing you want to hear at the moment, but the best thing is to get another dog. I know, been through this myself in the past. May I suggest contacting Nick (Lurcher) when you are ready, his other half and he run a rescue center for dogs.

Not a dog man at all, but even I had a lump in my throat reading this thread - sorry to hear of your loss Andy. :(

It's one of those things you either get or you don't. Having a dog is a huge responsibility, but the rewards are unbounded, they become a part of you in a way that's impossible to describe until you experience it for yourself. IMHO.

Sorry to hear your sad news Andy :(

Still miss my Toby but think of him each and every day when his face pops up on my phone alarm to wake me.

Very sad new Andy

I had the pleasure of meeting Rodger several times :),

First time he checked me out visually then a few sniffs ( Him not me ) and that was it I was accepted

He liked to lean on you :) and you could make a fuss of him all day , he never got fed up

RIP Roger :(

Sorry to hear of your loss Andy. I was devastated when I lost my cat a few years ago so can understand what you're going through.

Dogs have got it right:

They don't cheat or lie.
They love you for who you are, not what you look like or how much money you have.
They have no use for possessions.
They live in the now instead of regretting the past or worrying about the future.
Even when someone mistreats them, they forgive and offer only love in return.

Now who says humans are the smartest species on earth?

I'm really sorry for your loss, but if any creatures earn their place in Heaven, it's our dogs. I never met him but one look tells me he was special and very much loved.
