Ooops sorry Audio Al, kit is Simaudio Moon Nova cd - Moon i5 amp - Lehnmann audio Rhinelander head amp -on Cyrus Isoplats - Senny 580 precision phones - and ProAc D2 Response speakers on Partington dreadnought stands, cables are abbey rd studio connection speaker and interconnect, power distribution by merlin.
The other stuff is for the google box when SWMBO needs a soap fix.

Martin, have you tried the Proac's with the tweeters outboard of the woofers, if you get my meaning? You may reap a slight benefit (re: time-delay correction) to imaging and staging. Just a thought ;)

Evening, I placed the speakers in this way cause the instructions/brochure showed them this way, I will however try them the other way round without telling SWMBO and see if she hears any difference, blind tests are always the best.

Lovely set up there Martin, I'll bet it sounds fabulous. I've always liked Moon gear (and no, that's not a euphemism for some avant-guard drug before I get any amusing comments chucked back by the usual suspects :lol:). In fact I can't remember not having been impressed by any piece of gear produced by Simaudio Moon. Speakers are great too, one of my fave stand mounters in fact. I used to own the Proac Tablette Ref8 Siggies which were fabulous...the only downside was that they seemed to need loads of watts up them to get the best from them and to properly control the bass.

Lovely set-up Martin. Defiantly has the WAF. Nice to see im not the only one who has candles for late night listening, seems to improve the imaging/imagining :) Have you considered wall mounting the TV? Would free up space so as to take off the ornaments ontop the speakers, which could be resonating.

Thanks for all the comments guys, a friend had a TV/electrical goods shop and has promised a wall bracket at cost but I'm still waiting, we thought of mounting it a little higher than it stands at the moment and giving her more room to accommodate "the herd".
Paul, you seem to have experience of similar kit to mine, any suggestions as to cabling to try, at the moment most is Abbey Road studio connections stuff?.
Some cds do tend to have a "loose/boomy" bass but since most are her taste so I can live with that at the mo.

it depends really on what Abbey road cable you currently use. You can certainly do better in terms of connector and cable quality and design. One of the things RE Abbey road single ended cables is that they like to use screen free star-quad configurations but these are simply not that effective at rejection of RFI or EMI because they are not in a balanced circuit hence there's no common mode noise rejection so some of the claims regarding phase coherence etc are pretty meaningless if other factors such as noise coupled to the signal come into play. For the ultimate in detail retrieval with single ended connections, there are a number of things to look for, particularly that the cables SHOULD be screened, that they use good quality connectors which make good electrical contact compared with many budget offerings and that joint quality is consistent and low impedance. The DC resistance of the ground/return conductor should also be less (much less) than that of the signal conductor for good S/N ratio. Many cables will do the trick far batter I suspect for reasonable money. You don't really need to spend a fortune at all.
