Yesterday I was up at 5am , in the car at 5.30 , Off to Newcastle :eek:

6 hours and 300 miles later arrived at the destination

Strange goings on in the Premier Inn car park with a wad of cash being handed over in exchange for 2 rather large cardboard boxes :eyebrows:

Then a 6 hour return trip home and another 300 miles :eek:

Total 600 miles and 12 hours , I was knackered , then off to work for a night shift :eek:

OMG what a session

Will get the boxes out of the car later today when it dark :eyebrows:;)

Not 100% sure yet what too do ,

Original intentions was too keep the new mint condition units and sell on the fully working but cosmetically challenged units ,

Sadly, I came to the same conclusion. :( However if you can try it out (knock up some Dexion frames), you will be amazed by the sheer presence in the mid-range: it is palpable - with some discs, the hairs on the back of your neck will stand up!

Wiring the speaker pairs in parallel requires the amplifier to be happy with a speaker load of <1 Ohm at high frequencies. I used an identical pair of two-channel amplifiers, one for each stacked pair, so each speaker was driven by its own, separate amplifier.

I've heard stacked Quads on two occasions - the last time was in a tiny room and they basically acted as a room divider with a small gap between the left & right speaker, just big enough to squeeze through! The listener sat on a sofa, looking through the gap and with their knees just about two and a half feet away from the panel. Not exactly the most practical set up, but a rather memorable experience!

Barry , being a bit of a Hi Fi numpty ( me not you ) I have a pair ( 3 actually ) of Sony TA FB940R amps each an be can be switched too
