Tellurium Q Ultra Black Speaker

I already have Tellurium Q Black cable on trial, which is really growing on me

Just out of interest has anyone tried the Ultra against the Black, if so how did it compare?

Heard black against blue, but the blue was in my brothers system.

Therefore a bit of a skewed comparison lol. But the ultra black gives you more. Some people say its like listening to lots of separate instruments played together (ie, not good). I find the space around the elements great, it feels like everything's got room to breathe.and you get right to the heart of the music.

Put it this way, I've changed every component in my system, since I 'started' this about three years ago. Except the speaker cables, they're staying put!

not really much point in asking anyone else as they don't have the same system as you, easier to just get a pair for trial

as an example a 3 metre pair retails at £1530, the black is £282 so quite a difference, then there are the greens in between

IMO they are the best speaker cables there are overall (and I have tried a fair few (100+) over the last 30 years

And what is the stuff professionals used when MIXING the recordings you so love to play on your stereo's at home and needing to hear everything that's there in the recording? Well, in the olden days when they used passively driven monitors from an external amp, I believe many used mains cable, probably of the 6A type - it fits easily into a Speakon connector too IIRC.........

As a matter of fact we have sold cable to studios , and all have reported better sound reproduction and said there recording sounded much better because they can hear what is going on.
So shall we still say two bad's equal a good out? What do think?
And if you like the limited sound 6A Woolworth special produce, well good for you.:interesting:

Colin - not sure where you've been for the past couple of years but, unfortunately, Woolworth is no more.

Anywho, perhaps if studios used better cables, they might produce better recordings. I seem to recall that, many years ago, Monster persuaded some studios to use their cables instead of the throwaway dross. The result was superior recordings.

Better cables in the home system will enable the user to hear more of the recordings, even if they were recorded with cheap cables.

Having both blue and black and recently revisited the blue in my set up I continually return to the black. I have about half a dozen or so of the giant killer cables that have been recommended on here and else where,from time to time I like to experiment with different cables (just in case with a change in set up or equipment that magic synergy happens- like the stars lining up) but always return to the black.
I will eventually try the ultra black in my set but cant afford it just now, I would be genuinely fearful of getting some on loan and then wanting it without being able to afford it....I have to be financially realistic with this hobby and cut my cloth accordingly.
DSJR, why not pop over to hi fi Daves place and get a demo of the TQ stuff for yourself, it might well be that a lot of the folks on here that have invested they're hard earned cash are deluding themselves.....but, since Ive owned the blue and black for a number of years and all the kit around it has changed for the better, the black has always kept pace. My son still has my blue bi amping his set up.

I took the TQ stuff along to a couple of the Scottish AOS get together s and seasoned hi fi lovers have been impressed enough to put they're hands in they're pocket and spend they're hard earned on it.
I will hear the ultra in my set up when I can finance it without pushing my families finances to pursue my hobby.

Please David, get a demo/borrow some and write up a wee review for us members, it may not be to your taste but at least you could provide an informed opinion!

Just asking those that have tried it against the Blacks what you thought of it ;)

If most think it improved things then I may get a set in to trial; and get a mortgage to help pay for them :D

WAR.......You're joking its only speaker wire DSJR is a highly respected proponent on this site, just encouraging him to try and get a listen to the stuff before he makes comments on it. If i come across as aggressive or defensive its only because i put my money,which i don't have much of- where my mouth is. I will defend this product because it is good/really good.....if you like listening to music this helps (end of rant)!

Just to finish off this thread, as it looked a bit unfinished somehow !!

I did indeed invest in the Ultra Blacks, and that's just how I see it... an investment

The Blacks are very good indeed but once I listened to, and got used to, the Ultra Blacks presentation, swapping back to the Blacks was a backward step

It is difficult to explain but I consider the use of Ultra Blacks as much an improvement as changing an amp, cd or pair of speakers

At first it seems pretty subtle but after a/b'ing with the Blacks, and my old speaker cable, I just couldn't live without the Ultras way of doing things. They are VERY natural and seem to present so many more layers to the sound that, to be honest, they are addictive

I can assure you I have no alliance to either TQ or MCRU. In fact I didn't even purchase from MCRU in the end as another dealer offered me a deal I couldn't say no to. I only actually needed a 2m run but the deal on this very lightly used 2.5m Ultra was very good indeed. I am, of course, covering David's (at MCRU) expense of sending the cables to me, as I think that's the right thing to do

I would say to anyone who has not heard anything TQ to give it a go, I know some of you are sceptical (as I was) but if you get the chance to try it i would really recommend that you do. You have nothing to loose

I will now be living with my system as it is as being really happy with it, having said that I do need to sell an amplifier soon, I can't keep 3 as that's just crazy talk ;)

I did ask David (MCRU) FIRST if he could do anything on the price, even for ex demo set etc but he couldn't do anything, which was totally fair enough. Do you really think I didn't want to give him the business? Well of course I did

What would you have done? Are you saying you would have paid the considerable amount more just to buy from the original sender? I don't think so!! Like I said one of TQ's dealers had an ex demo set at considerable saving and I couldn't say no to it

I wrote to David telling him what happened and told him I would cover his costs

I think I have been very fair. But if you or anyone else would have paid the extra considerable amount more then you have much more money than me. ;)

Thought the free endorsement would have got you a good deal but obviously Dave doesn't want to be seen to give discounts. Just wondering if someone directed you towards this dealer or was one you found in your locality? Of course if you named them it would quel all the speculation.

Paul I found this dealer myself online. I keep most of my deals to myself so I won't be spilling the beans on this either ;)
