Just installed some Voxativ AC-X field coils in my Oris horns - results are staggering :D
Field coil is where it's at replaced some very nice AER MD3's
just need to see if I can fit some 15" bass field coils in the bass cabs :)

Interesting, never heard field coil drivers.

I don't know much about them, but presumably they are DC energised from a very clean power supply. Otherwise the ingress of hum would be a problem.

I just bought some (very nicely made) L Cao full range 8" units from China and hear that now Mr. Cao has released a field coil version. I may investigate.

What is the power consumption of yours by the way?

I heard some 70 year old German ones at a previous Owston, sounded great.

Hi Geoff was looking at the L Cao awhile back they look interesting.
These field coils work between 6-18v DC,recommended PSU voltage is 12v and battery ,currently using an Optima "Yellow Top"
Again old making good with new manufacturing techniques

Yes, Hi-Fi just seems to go round and round technology wise. Little new comes along. Moving coil speakers have been around over a century! Maybe we'll get a free air energised focused plasma Hi-Fi speaker one day (yes I know there are and have been plasma drivers).

Heard some WE field coils once made in 1928 , staggering if you can house speakers 12feet high

battery is best !
but the Optima car battery is shagged so butchered a Keysource UPS I had - will probably run four 7.2Ah per field coil
