Tellurium Q Atom Amp

This is a long shot but has anyone heard the Atom amp from Tellurium Q?

It sounds fascinating to me :)

Class A, neat looks, build. TQ aren't giving much away on their website however. The Iridium 20 looks interesting too, might be worth a listen...

There is an excellent review of the Iridium currently on HiFi Pig, it sounds as if it does the business. If the Atom delivers even a little of what its bigger brother appears to then it could be a contender.

its very small and matches their headphone amp which is also a pre-amp

not heard it purely because I do not have much spare time but a few customers who have say for the size of the box it's a great sounding bit of kit

the other amp of theors you mention is a totally different beast, hifi world amp of the year 2012

I'm using an Atom at the moment, it's a fine little thing that does very, very well given it's tiny size. Having said that, I prefer other, bigger amps which you can get for less second hand (partly as I have inefficient speakers). If space is a premium, then the Atom is the way to go (or perhaps the old Musical Fidelity 'X' range). The Atom properly comes into it's own with the Listen pre-amp, and is even better when bi-amped, really good in fact... but then you're up to about 3 grand, and there's a whole lot of choice at that point.

I am a self confessed fan of Col's designs, but much of the TQ range is a bit rich for me at the moment. I like the old Magnum or Inca Tech amps which he previously made, the Claymore, or the MF250 are available for peanuts and offer tons more value IMO.

Being a friend of Col, I am plainly not unbiased, but I hope that helps a little. I have the Atom on loan as Colin is repairing my normal amp, one of his MOSFET class A amps.

Bev. How many Tellurium threads have you started now? HFS will be having a field day :lol:. CW claims that amps are cheap to design compared with cable so I imagine the Tellurium amps are probably a 'development' from previous designs like the Inca Tech Claymore only a lot more expensive.

I have 3 TQ threads and if I think I want to discuss anything else TQ related I will open another one :ner:
