After some deliberation and a temporary enforced hold on equipment spending due to holidays etc. I finally decided to purchase the Cambridge Audio Azur 551P phono stage today.
Gave the whole system a good clean & dust whilst removing the existing unit which is a Project Phono Box (PPB).
This was essentially free as it was surplus when I sorted my Dad out with a new amp 18 or so months ago so no money lost there.
Initial impressions of the 551P are that is gives a clearer and possibly fuller sound than the Phono Box without being either overtly bassy or too bright.
It also seems to provide much better grounding for my TT as new vinyl was getting very difficult to listen to as static discharge was so loud on the PPB and occurring at a seemingly regular rate rather than as it built up.
It is also very convenient to be able to switch the unit off without resorting to plug removal each time.
So overall very pleased with my purchase that provides a clear and noticeable improvement on my system straight from the box.
