Hello everyone i'm Tim, from mid cheshire.
I am amazed at the level of intellect and peoples ability to swap, tweek etc to systems, something i have always dreamt of but never done anything about.
My knowledge is very limited in these aspects but always had a love for music and i have always tried to purchase items which i personally would consider to be better than your general 'currys audio system'
Musical taste is quite varied from the beautiful tones of katie melua, norah jones through to Andreas bocelli, u2 and even current pop, dance etc.

As for my set up i have the following:
Tv - Panasonic 42" plasma
Usual sky hd, ps3 slim
Late 2012 mac mini i5 2.5 intel dual core 16gb ram with mini toslink to standard toslink for audio
Yamaha Aventage natural sound av receiver rx-a810 which is on my network with yamaha ipod/iphone dock all housed in an alphason ambre unit which i vinyl covered from walnut finish to oak to match the new decor!
Apple airport x
Western digital my passport 1tb drive for audio and movies that the amp and ipads/iphones read direct from as well as the mac mini
Monitor audio bx5 floor standers
Monitor audio bx centre
Monitor audio bx1 as rears all in oak finish
Also have a monitor audio 360 sub on a granite board (chopping board to be precise!)
Chord carnival silverscreen speaker wires
Made my own uprated mains leads using supra lorad 1.5mm wire and mk tough plugs and uprated eic plugs and better figure 8 plugs. All mainly sourced through ebay
Tacima ext leads
And sennheiser px200-II for ipad listening
Thats all i can think of
Other than if people are interested i will get some pics up!
And i have discovered stan beresford dacs so i have my name down for his up and coming dac to help improve the mac audio on my itunes library.
Also having made a acrylic little shelf unit for my mac, apple super cd drive and a usb3 hub so it look all neat and tidy which i pic up on saturday morning.

Hi, welcome Tim,
Don't be fazed by some of the passion shown on this forum, I think it's one of those facets of life that can attract strong feelings about the pure enjoyment that can be had from listening to music in the very best fidelity.

It can give me goose bumps when I'm listening to a great artist sounding as if nothing is missing.
Have a good look around and you will find some very helpful folks on here, so don't be shy with any questions,

:cool:Alan

Thanks for the warm welcome guys appreciate it. I am happy with my system what i have put together at what i consider the entry end of the spectrum compared to some i have seen on here!
Having numerous conversations with Jon at Doug Brady hifi where i bought the monitor audio speakers, we think i need to spend 4 figures a piece to gain a noticeable difference in quality. But i do like tweaking hence my own mains cables and would love to be able to do more.
A big help from what i have noticed is how good the yamaha amp is at stereo and pure direct etc even though its a home theatre amp, it really does have clarity and is a great match with the monitor audio speakers.
Will take some pics now and put them up:thumbsup:

My new acrylic stand will let me mount my mac etc neater inside the unit to keep a bit of order in there! At present i just knocked up a little stand for it to sit on then the keyboard can slide underneath it
