Leak Trough Line III Stereo

Bought last year from Anthony at Tube Distinctions and I've never used it, so probably never will.

Nice condition, in a wooden case and full of Mullard valves.

I paid £80 and thats what I'd like for it, plus postage at cost or collection.

The ones your links point to are overpriced, will not sell & will be readvertised at lower prices - unless some idiot happens along. If you search ebay for completed listings of Troughlines, you'll see they fetch £80 or thereabouts.

..............but having said that, for 80 quid, the performance you can get with a 1/2 decent aerial makes it a steal.

Between £50 to £80 (and that was out of a shop) is what these normally sell for.

The guys on E-Bay are taking the piss. Condition is poor, no wood box sleeve. They have probably bought ones needing work and now need to try and get their money back...NO CHANCE..IMHO. Either that or they are just plain ignorant of buying and selling prices.

The Art Deco style one that Chris ( Grand Wazoo) has with a nice wood box sleeve and fully working a bit more £100 or there abouts. However if you are selling a Graham Tricker/One Thing modded one with a new internal or an out board stereo decoder you can get more.... But condition is everything and working order.

Yes I do have a couple...A nice Deco one and a Mk2 stereo which has a Rodney Hanna modified FM decoder (this replaces the original and fits inside the old inner metal sleeve. Its based on a Motorola unit. Sensitivity is better but I don't think its quite as good as the original. This was done as the unit I had did not work anymore (never worked) and it was silly to leave it sitting gathering dust. Technically now its not really a Leak as it has nice F connector fitted, RCA outputs and a long mains lead, not to mention the new FM decoder. Selling it would be a waste of time as I would need to much for it to take into account the overall costs.

I wanted Mikes as it is original and in nice nick with the wood sleeve. I guess the collector in me raised its head....:lol:

I had a Troughline (no idea which one, though, but it was stereo as bought), which sat next to its matching Stereo 30 or 60 in its teak double sleeve.

It worked well, and John Peel was enjoyed late into the student night on R.2 Never thought of it as particularly better than others around at the time (1972)

Replaced it with a matching Revox tuner and amp to go with my A77 open-reel, and have no recollection of one being superior to t'other. A previous Pioneer was also good, but I did get 'burbles' on it at times. One wasn't too analytical in those days. If it looked the goods, it WAS the goods!

Both were fed from an 8 element aerial on the roof of my student lodgings.

I did enjoy my student days in those halcyon times, but my final exams were a bit touch and go!
