Hi all! I'm Roger i live in hertfordshire UK and i'm a music lover, musician & electro-mechanical engineer.
I'm interested in audio electronics specifically but engineering in general interests me, would like to construct some of my own audio equipment, and hopefully design some too when i've gained the necessary knowledge.
My sound system was bought at the end of the '90s and consists of:
Arcam alpha 8 amp
Arcam alpha 7se CD player
Celestion floor standing speakers cant remember model
Sony MD player/recorder can't remember model but was top of the range at the time
Technics SL1210 Mk2
Technics SL1410 Mk2 - I'm gonna make this my regular deck
Pioneer PL990 - Got this for £5 from a car boot sale! brand new
I'm really pleased with the HiFI gear i bought, it's served me well and sounds good.

I'm also interested in recording and vinyl in particular - i have an old MSS recording lathe.
I regurlarly tinker with electrical/ electronics stuff, and would like to construct more audio gear, and do modifications to my existing stuff - especially the turntables as mine are standard.

Hi Rog,
There's a good bit of DIY activity here - the place to look is 'The Drawing Board' if you haven't already found it.
What sort of music do you listen to and play?

Welcome to AoS.
Cheers

My musical taste is wide and varied - but mainly soul, funk, and jazz, although i have a bit of everything in my collection.
I'm also into Dj'ing where i play a range of dance music.

Hi from the antipodes. I think you will enjoy your time here. It seems one only has to say 'Technics' and 'Deck' or 'Table' in the same sentence and they start salivating.

Best Wishes from Andrei
