Just looks effortless and rock-solid, that tonearm is stationary!

Out of interest Matt, if you had to choose, would you take a 301 or a 401? ;) :eyebrows:

It's a good question and in all honesty I think it depends on criteria. In terms of sound I would say the 401 has the ability to produce more subtlety refined / detailed presentation if in good running condition and well plinthed. The 301 (Particularly early hammertone grease bearings) have much more torque which I feel influences the presentation with a raw musicality that is very well suited to Mono recordings Jazz and Blues (Late version oil bearing 301's are slightly more refined). In terms of styling, heritage etc etc I personally prefer the 301. Here's a pic of my personal unit, I've recently been playing with an Ortofon Mono 'A' fit and a Shindo 'A' Fit (Modified Ortofon) Cartridgeshttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f298/furylovelolly/jvc/APRR%20MID%2013/M%20A%20Y%202013/JUNE%202013/JULY%202013/SPUAMONOCOLLAGE.jpg (http://s49.photobucket.com/user/furylovelolly/media/jvc/APRR%20MID%2013/M%20A%20Y%202013/JUNE%202013/JULY%202013/SPUAMONOCOLLAGE.jpg.html)
