Help a confused old man please

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I am sure you lovely, intelligent, knowledgable chaps might be able to help.

Over twenty years ago my uncle gave me a Philips all in one system, when I say all in one from memory it had a tuner and tape deck, it was a brushed/anodised silver finish, looked like a sleek space age style design it was quite big probably at least two feet wide, the speakers were I think black wood with the same silvery trim at the front.

Only remembered it recently because I binned it years ago because the tape stopped working.

I assume it was from the seventies ish.

I would just like to know what it was I suppose.

Don't know the Philips, but a Beocentre 2200 with simple but really excellent X25 speakers may make a good alternative. Jap made with thick-film 'chip' amp modules, it nonetheless sounded really good, especially on records by the way...

I did try earlier on my phone might better doing it on the desktop, bigger screen. It was sort of a similar shape to an old beocentre I suppose.

I think we need some more description to go on here - did it have a turntable?
Did the tuner have a tuning scale along the front of the unit?
Did the tape deck have a sloped section on it and was it on the left, right or front of the unit?

Synsei, the first picture doesn't work for me. The grundig is not entirely dissimilar but the philips was a lot more streamlined.

Grand wazoo, I will try but like I say it is over 20 years since I had it.

No turntable, just tape and tuner.

I am pretty certain the tape deck was sloped and it might have been on the left.

Tuner scale could have been on the front.

I am not sure whether the volume etc. were sliders or knobs, pretty certain they were knobs.

It was quite a large unit for not a lot of stuff on it.

I loved that old system, don't know if it was any good but I loved it all the same...

It is a Finnish built Philips 851 music system apparently and I found mention of it on a Finnish forum here (http://www.radiohistoria.fi/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1297869805/5). I will try and dig up more information for you :)

EDIT: Incidentally my Nana and Grandad had one of these which is how I recognised it from your description. It was an absolute bugger to find a pic of one though. Brings back some memories for me too :)
