I've been looking for a headphone amp for some occasional listening, mostly of Spotify to demo new music. I started reading Head-Fi and was starting to become drawn into dangerous new waters - interesting but potentially expensive, especially since I liked the Eddie Current valve offerings, particularly the Zana Deux. As usual, the trouble was that the amps and 'phones I liked were all American - Eddie Current, Blue Hawaii, Grado, Audeze etc which end up costing the same in GB£ as in US$, plus there's the added geographical warranty logistics if there's any problems.

Anyway, bearing in mind the intended use I decided that I had better things to spend money on, particularly with Bonneville Speedweek next month!
Then I saw this curious device...

Rather an impulse buy but I've ordered one and it's on the way - hopefully some interesting fun for just £179 including shipping.
The plan is to swap in some NOS valves to start with and see what it sounds like. At the moment, NOS tubes for this are very reasonably priced.
If it's OK then I'll think about upgrading some of the components and make some cosmetic changes such as sorting out a decent case/chassis etc.
Some HD 600 or 650 Senns are on the cards too.
Why call this amp the "Dirty Deuce"? Hot rodders call the '32 Ford the "Deuce" and the rest is self-explanatory.
