Today I let my 8 year old son loose for half an hour with my Nikon D50 / 50mm 1.8. He has really shown a great interest in photography in the past few weeks, so was happy to let him have a proper go for the first time. I didn't help him at all with these - he wandered around and just took what he liked. You'll have to excuse me having a bit of a 'proud dad' moment, but I think he has a decent eye for this! :)

All the photos were taken at the beautiful gardens of a National Trust property called Greys Court near Henley-on-Thames.

I had a Zenith E as a young lad Andre. The TTL version was the big boys one...:)

A great effort from the lad Julian. You can't beat a standard 50mm lens.

Thanks so much chaps - he'll be even more pleased when I tell him about your kind words! :)

Little does he know that dad has been on ebay and there is a Canon compact winging its way to Highgate. Really happy to encourage his interest and he's just had a good school report, so he deserves it for sure ...
