Well, I've just filled in my state pension claim, as I become a pensioner soon.

Probably makes me one of the older AOS members. I know there are a few older though.

Fortunately, I still have Hi-Fi 'golden ears' and can hear when something is not right or for that matter very good (which doesn't happen often). I think I'm just about there with my system. It didn't cost a fortune in relative terms, but sounds remarkable. All carefully chosen components many bought second hand.

I'm stuck in London (what a dump it's become) and dearly want to move away. The west country appeals and I have friends and family there, but at the moment things here are a bit up in the air and I am unable to make firm plans.

What are other 'vintage' AOS members up to. Anybody doing anything interesting?

Well I'm not quite old enough for my state pension, have another three years. As for what I'm doing: Listening to Wishbone Ash and Lady GaGa (yes I know). :lol:

Still working, part-time now, keeps me fit (ish). Glad that the weather is warmer though as it does make me feel better. Let's hope it stays for a while.

Really not keen on hot weather. I was a bit too warm today. I've always said, summer is the only season I can find uncomfortable. Being in the city doesn't help, it gets clammy.

My brother in law is 82 years young. He still races his go-kart and rides a Kawasaki, an old Rudge and a Honda Fireblade. He has had to slow down a bit as he came off the Fireblade recently. He did beat the other guy though!! He also flies control line model aircraft and still has time to make me the occasional special tool for the lathe. Ex design engineer, he probably designed the machines that were used to make stuff you use every day.

I take him as inspiration.

Yes, know what you mean. Living on the coast means that in the afternoon there is a cooling sea breeze, which helps to keep things a little cooler.

Yes, I spend a lot of time at my brother's at The Lizard, Cornwall and the air is totally different, so is the night sky, you can actually make out the Milky Way, no chance in London.

When I go to my sisters, in Leicester, it always seems ''stuffy.'' Am always happy to get back home, to some fresh(er) air. :)

Last weekend I got up and as I was emptying the old bladder I thought to myself: "You'll be sixty before long. SIXTY!!"

I'll be 57 next year, and I just find it hard to take-in at times.

Despite not getting a lot of exercise, I still seem ridiculously fit. I don't get puffed out doing anything normal. I can still run (properly), ride my bike and carry heavy stuff without bother. Funny thing is, my brother at 75 is fitter and stronger than me.

I think they're right (whoever 'they' are), the heat bothers you more as you get older. It's certainly bothering me, even though it's slightly less hot today.

That's pretty inspirational stuff Gordon. My paternal Grandma was a spritely sort right up to her 92nd birthday when she developed age-onset dementia :(
