Finally got round to doing it and the results are in.

Finally got my arse into gear and brought a proper SME V arm board for the Techie and got some new headshell wires ( thanks Marco), went to a dealer got the whole lot set up with the DL103 and l well happy with the result l have to say, l really had forgotten how good this tonearm is and on the Techie has a nice platform to strut its stuff, rock solid bass and the needle seems in complete control of the groove giving a warm, full and very musical presentation, which is also smooth and involving, l am one happy camper, plus the deck looks nice now with SME V on it, it really sings now back to some tunes.:gig:

We know Andrew eh? More than happy with the sound- it is so easy and musical l am in love already, to be honest l have not tried the Ortofons but have heard them on a SME V ( Per Winfeld l believe that was on a Inspire Monarch, well that was one of the best sounds l have heard in my life, my rig has several of that systems traits, the bass! It is incredible, but l suppose the Nordost Quattro-fil arm cable helps;) any way back to the sounds.......:rock:

Thanks! The Winfield is one up from mine I think :scratch: I have the Cadenza black and I must admit to loving the sound that greets me when I power my 1210 up. It's nice to hear you get the seismic bass, that seems to be a very common finding with SME + Techie combo's. I may have to disagree with you with the Nordost kit, I used to have the TYR tonearm cable linked to my V and whilst it was very good it got bettered by a Yannis Toem cable. Your cable could be something different though?

Forgot to ask, what are you using for the intrinsic tonearm wire? Have you stayed copper or gone silver?

If you mean the inside of the arm cable then no it is a bog standard, but the Ortofon headshell wires are nice ( 7n copper) l think! This analogue thing can be addictive, but no plans to go silver, got another analogue goodie coming soon so watch this space..........
