Hello, my name is Brian.
I dabbled in the lower end of Hi Fi about 25 years ago, but then forgot all about it until about 5 years ago, when I started to become interested again.
I allocated myself £500 to "get a better Hi Fi".... ha, ha.... if only.

I have done a lot of swapping kit in and out, in an effort to get more knowledge /experience. But the biggest learning experiences have been going to get togethers at the houses of others. I have been to many, via the "Bake Off" system over on Wigwam. A great invention these " Bake Offs", and a great way to hear what works (or doesnt work) for you.

I have also been to all of the Wigwam shows at Scalford, which again is fantastic, both from a social side and from a HiFi/Music side. 3 times as an exhibitor, which is great fun.

Kit wise: I have 2 turntables . NA spacedeck/ 12" Audio Origami PU7/ Lyra Dorian. Garrard 401/ SME3012/ Cadenza Black. Hopefully soon the PU7 and Cadenza Black will go on the Garrard.

Amps: 2 pairs of valve mono powers. Audio Innovation 2nds and Rank Concepts. Pre is A Django passive.

Speakers. Snell K's. Had these the longest of any of my kit and think they are great. recently experimenting with larger speakers, so have Snell C's and Audio Physic Paduas.

Musically I was in a little "Jazz only" bubble for 20 years, with a little classical thrown in. Bake offs have opened me to much more, and I enjoy again Rock/Pop.

I look forward to participating in this forum and to hopefully meeting some of its members.

Hello Brian,

Welcome to AoS, lovely set up you have there, nice to see another vinyl spinner enjoying the black stuff, would you say the Cadenza Black is equal to or better than the Lyra Dorian? I've ordered a Lyra Delos after a lot of pondering, I hope it's as good as some on this forum have advised.

I find this a helpful and friendly forum where the enjoyment of music is the object of the "hobby", enjoy your stay.

regards Al

Al and Rob, thanks for your welcome.

Al, I havent directly compared them yet. The Cadenza Black is on the SME but the arm and cartridge need setting up, so I havent heard that combo yet. A friendly Wammer is going to do that for me soon.

I previously had the Cadenza on my Orbe with SME 4, and it sounded great.
So, it was always the plan to put it on the Garrard when I got an arm for it. I bought the NA/PU7/Lyra combo just for the arm, so the plan is to eventually to put the PU7 and Cadenza on the Garrard.

It should be better, as it is virtually new, and costs almost 3 times the Lyra. I understand that the Garrard/PU7/Cadenza combination is a good match. Time will tell.
