My name is Mark and I live in the US. I have been a vacuum tube hi-fi enthusiast for many years. After experimenting with collecting and restoring a lot of the vintage US tube hi-fi, I became enamored with UK made hi-fi. Quite simply I like how it is made and how it sounds. These days my collecting has slowed down dramatically. I am happy to use what I have and spend my time keeping listening to music and keeping the equipment I have going.

I found this site by accident while scouring the net for a Celestion HF-1300 that I need to replace the one that has failed on my Spendor SP-1 speaker. Out of all the speakers I have owned, these have always been my favorite and I am determined to find a replacement tweeter so I can use them again. There was a user here (Walpurgis) that had four units that looked exactly the same as mine for sale a while ago. I am hoping that he, or someone else might have a single 16 ohm version I can purchase to get my speaker going again.

I am mainly an amplifier person and have amplifiers made by Quad, Leak, Beam Echo, and Sterns. This type of equipment is not easy to come by over here. I pursue it whenever I run across it. I also have a pair of Rogers Studio 1A that I will am planning on putting into service until I can get my Spendors up and running again.

That's about it for me except that I should probably mention that I am a musician (guitar player) and enjoy playing music as well as listening to it.

Cheers!

Mark

Hi Mark,
Welcome to AoS. That's a great introduction, thanks for that.
I know you're frustration well as I've been on the look out for a cache of Eico amps here in the UK for years and years. I have never found any, nor have I ever met any Englishman who's even seen them in the flesh! I notice that they've been 'discovered' in the US too, so the chances of me ever getting my hands on a cheap source are pretty non-existent, I'd think.

Why don't you let us know what your system consists of exactly as that's the kind of welcome thread we all like!

Cheers & I hope your stay at AoS is a good one.

Welcome to AoS Mark.

Glad to read you are an admirer of vintage British amplifiers. You are fortunate in finding a Beam Echo amplifier. They were comparitively rare when they were made in the '60s, and are even rarer today.

Can you describe the rest of your system and tell us a little about the type of music you listen to (and play)?
