Been hankering after an Alchemist amp. You don't see many of them around nowadays but they really are lovely. I would love a pre-power though one of their Ints would do. Anyone got one they fancy parting with?:)

They come up on ebay from time to time. seem a couple this year,
they seem to go for around £150-£200
they look lovely and i do too wonder how they sound.

I always avoid buying something because 'it looks nice'.

I use my ears, if a piece of equipment looks presentable as well as sounding the way I like, all well and good, but the sound comes every time first for me.

Ive got an Alchemist that I bought for another room long time ago,its one of the few that have a phono stage.If youre around my way you can have a listen..I didn't think much when I got it first,but after a few speaker changes,it sings now.:cool:

Thanks George. Very kind of you. However, it sounds like i should give them a miss. I heard an original Kraken many years ago and loved it. I also remember hearing Dark side of the moon at the Manchester show many years ago via an Alchemist Pr and power. It sounded great. Just looking for an alternative to my valve amp.

Try a Monarchy Audio SM-70 power amp. You'll be amazed!
