Decca London Maroon

I'm selling my Decca London Maroon. I bought it a few months ago from an AOS member and used it for a short period whilst my expensive MC was away being serviced. It has the typically dynamic Decca sound with bags of presence. The cartridge has a Deccapod fitted making mounting easier and it comes with two hex studs with nuts and two screws which can be cut to length if necessary. I don't know how many hours use it has had, but it is in excellent working condition and the stylus has no visible wear. I do not have original packing. I'm asking £250 delivered. Shane, if he has any sense, will leave te thing alone UNLESS he has a Hadcock or other lightly damped unipivot arm to fit it to. Decca's are NEVER to be taken lightly and discarded a few weeks on, but should be matched and used with great care if the best is to be got from them. Just my opinion of course :lol:

Oh yes indeedy and if this is what Shane is still using, then I'd say to go for it and ONLY change it if the thing fails, as Decca's often do and/or needs to be returned for a retip and rebuild, preferably with a modern fancy profile diamond (can't remember if the Microscanner I have is the same as the EsCo Paratrace, and how these compare to the SAS and latest Shibata profiles). The Microscanner on test, avoids the 19kHz sizzle of lesser models, either by shifting it further up in frequency, or by hopefully minimising the amount. This 'sizzle' is one reason why so many don't get on with them, not because of the issue itself, but more likely the phono stage can't handle it!
