I found this forum through LesW's post on pfm. Very glad I am too, as I live close to Hartlepool where the NE Bake Off 2 was held last week.

I was a Linn/Naim/Linn guy for a long time. LP12, 32.5/HiCap/250, Kans. Then I discovered pfm and LesW. I bought an old pair of Avondale Monos and sold the 250, built a B4 and sold the 32.5/Hi. I still have Linn speakers, but moved up to the Kans big brothers.

I've mainly been listening to my iPone and custom iems lately, as I've been unhappy with my main system, when it comes to music. My system is incorporated into an AV setup comprising;-

Sky+ HD, Naim AV2, Mono HackerNAPs into late Isobariks at the front, stereo NCC200 into early Isobariks at the rear. ( I could not bring myself to sell them, when I got the later pair )

Music is mainly AAC files on a MacMini with SSD and Amarra, into a Young DAC, B4 pre and the HackerNAPs / Isobariks.

I also have a GL 75 platter / bearing / motor mounted on 2in. Slate, with an Ekos and Troika. The later from the LP12 which was bettered by the GL75.

I have a fairly broad taste in music, including classical guitar, electronica, rock and pop, but lately I've been stuck on an Enigma compilation.

Hi Chris

I was very impressed when I first heard a GL75 at a pfm bake off. Then, a thread on pfm about a slate plinth, inspired me to build my own. It's great being able to experiment with various upgrades without spending a fortune, unlike with the LP12.

I have pictures, but it's not very pretty. I only roughly cut out the slate from a snooker table section and assembled to have a listen. I've just stripped it to clean it up, mainly to keep my wife happy.

I've just stripped it down to have the sides trimmed to clean them up. I'll fit a modified bearing and maybe a lower support bracket, when I rebuild. Then I will just need to find a perspex cover for it.
