As already posted elsewhere on AOS myself and Mike have formed a partnership for me to sell his excellent bearing for the Technics SL series of turntables. I have ordered 20 bearings and they should be in the UK in approx. 3 weeks time. If you place an order via my website I will ship the goods immediately they arrive, I do not intend to ever run out of stocks after the initial shipment reaches me. The bearing will be sold for £445 inc VAT (http://www.mains-cables-r-us.co.uk/analogue-lp-s/662-mike-new-technics-sl1200-bearing.html.). There isn't really anything I cannot offer now to fully pimp up your Techy, I am authorized for Jelco, Oyaide, Furutech, Stillpoints and many other top brands that manufacture some truly excellent accessories to get the best out of your Techy.

Of course I would not be in this position unless my business had not grown so quickly since forming MCRU just over 2 years ago, this success is partly due to my addiction to audio which started over 30 years ago so I have first hand experience of many of the tips and tweaks for analogue replay, having owned a Techy for over 20 years, I currently own 4 so I am well placed to advise you on the best way forward if you are just starting out on the up-grade path.

Please do not think that up-grading an SL1200/1210 is too expensive or beyond your reach, it is most definitely not. The unique thing about this turntable is that each tweak or up-grade can be done on it's own progressing as funds allow. There is no need to do all the up-grades at once and many audiophiles are happy with a few selected up-grades such as a new power supply and bearing or a new mat and feet. The Art of Sound forum remains the world's most definitive source for Technics information and indeed the Techipedia is a must visit page if you are serious about extracting the maximum amount of information from those vinyl grooves! :)

All that remains to write is that the Mike New Bearing is a must have up-grade for Technics owners.

Great news, David! Good luck with this. You certainly have the full support of AoS behind you :)

Well done David and good to see that this arrangement has brought the price down considerably in spite of an extra party getting involved. This should increase demand together with the elimination of a long wait.

It can be done a little at a time chief, we all have bills to pay and kids to feed (and a wife obsessed with QVC )

Well done Mike and David for coming to an agreement. It would have been a tragic shame if the MN Bearing had ceased to be available.

Indeed. We *had* to keep the modded Techy alive... No doubt that some folks would have preferred the opposite, but we would never have allowed that on AoS! :nono:

Have you sent your M-DAC to the man himself yet or are you waiting for his complete PCB?

It's been on his desk for months. Should be winging its way back in a day or two.

Been listening to the Q-Dac for a while, nowhere near as good. Even with Nick's linear attached!

I have seven bearings arriving this week if anyone would like to order one. I will be offering a "free" set of Techniboots
with the first 10 bearings sold. Go on you know you want one. The Techniboots are illustrated below on a
rather nice looking techy from Mister T.

I am obviously not awake as I missed this one completely. My hearty congratulations go to David and Mike for thrashing out a business agreement which is mutually beneficial. Remembering a convo I had with Mike some months ago via PM's in which I suggested he court a UK distributor, Mike was highly doubtful that it would be financially viable to develop such an arrangement. He was certain that to do so, the margins involved would raise the price to a point where his bearing would most likely be priced out of the market, therefore it has come as a very pleasant surprise to me that the cost of Mikes superb bearing has dropped as a result of his arrangement with MCRU. Snatched from the jaws of death...

The bearings are now in the UK with me tomorrow for anyone who wants to take up my offer of a free set of Techniboots with the bearings or I can offer 50 mofi record sleeves instead.

here is the first uk mike new bearing in stock now and looking like a serious piece of engineering, very heavy, solidly built and about to get a good run on one of my many techy's and installed on 2 customers techy's over the weekend

Well the bearing is fitted to one of my techy's now, just warming it up then I will take a listen, it was very easy to fit as Mike's instructions sheets were easy to follow.

2 techy's will be at my fest in 2 weeks time so anyone who wants to hear it can!

thanks
