Wow, I had no idea they were worth so much. Mine must be valuable, genuine antique, showing a few signs of age but after all, its been used and loved for many years. Considering how much its cherished, wanting compensation for the loss of a valued friend, lets say £200. Fair enough??:lol::eyebrows:

A mitchell record clamp went for £41 plus £4.10 postage on the bay the other week, and that was the modern crap ones, so i thought £70 delivered, for a better quality focus one clamp in mint condition was a fair price,you need to look at the price of some clamps now a days, some are £120+.

There are some idiots on ebay. A current design new clamp from Mitchell is £25 new. So for those old type ones £35 seems about right, providing they are in top condition. Just because there are some fancy new clamps at £100 + on the market doesn't make it worth double the going rate.

Umm, without getting too flamed, the original clamp with the strobe markings is indeed rare and much more desirable. Sure you can get the plain Michell clamp for £35. If you managed to snag one of the original ones for £35 or less, then you’ve got a bargain.

Let's say 'less common' - rare? It's hardly that.
More desirable? Well, only really from a collector's point of view - it's less usable than a modern one, as some cartridge bodies foul the 90 degree edged rim. Quite a few turn up for sale because people find they're no longer compatible with their shiny new cartridge purchase.
