Bit off topic, Dan. Do you still use your Quad 303 set up?

Hi Dan,
Don't know from personal experience but there is one for sale here in France for 450euros!! Self contained, you don't need a preamp. But you do need DIN speaker plugs and a 5 pin din plug for the tape input. NOt sure what the sensitivity is but you could try a CD player though that input. The back panel shows a diagram of a couple of phono sockets for the TT but not sure where they actually are.
Hopefully someone will have knowledge of this. It looks great.

Hi
It should work as it is with tape , phone and tuner...but nothing is there any ideas on repair..was sent with the end of a 5 pin din stuck in the pre section and the pre section has broken in the process could this be the fault..
How would i go about taking the covers of etc looks tricky..
or to i tell hell with it a get a refund..
PM sent re din plug-link. Later ones were used in active systems and an Isobarik system thus powered could sound really good for a lot less than Naim, which was a bit over-priced even then, although people had more disposable income back then...

Hi Chaps
As i have said i have bought a second CTA 252 but the volume control needs a bit of switch cleaner. Nothing to bad not noticeable really but im fussy. How would i do this just spray it in to the volume slider or... I dont want to open this thing up..
Sliders used in domestic audio gear were always noise prone. Servisol 10 is a cleaner/lubricant and should be fine sprayed sparingly in the slot.
The plastic top of the Nytech does come off easily once the knobs are removed, but please don't try to separate the two 'layers' unless you absolutely have to ;)

Odd how this is regarded for its sound quality, and yet no one ever mentions it has tone controls.
I see they are back in business, sadly without Richard Hay who died. And Nero a German company are bringing back ARC speakers.

Hi Stephan
They are indeed back and set up in wales i believe :) I have 2 CTA 252XD 2's and there brilliant bits of kits just the old design though somewhat complex to work on i had trouble figuring out what goes where when i first got them. No mention of tone controls because i don't use them but their a cool feature. Also for sound quality their VERY VERY GOOD for their size and power output i think its 25 to 50 watts P/C :). Though the tuner selection is funky too i was running mine last night in my main rig and did not disappoint ever find one pick them up well worth having ;)

I always fancied one but could never afford one. Got an original this week for £37, which is a bit shagged. It also doesn't have the wood surround. I was wondering how wide it was and how it was attached. You'll rejuvinate the case with a silicone pad for car interiors.

Hi
Does it have the flip lid? If so even rarer as mine does and has the wide wooden surround my other one does not have it nor the surround as its a later one its probably the way it came out the factory. If not to your liking and you want to pass it one i would buy it from you if working :. Just nice to add to the collection.

No, it doesn't have the cover. The wood surround was a feature to all versions, I think, as it was to hide the joining of the case top and bottom to the chassis. So you have one with it missing, which seems to be common, judging by the photos on eBay. Mine wants rebuilding as it doesn't work. There's one for sale now but the top section of the case looks pretty rough, and it's a non-worker.
