Afternoon all, just had my interest piqued by these, might try a pair to run as well as my Harbs, having never heard a pair, how do these speakers and compare to modern designs?:)

There not to everyone taste but having not heard a pair of later reds (The early ones are sweet) its difficult to comment

I sold and installed a pair of those to a nice Japanese gentleman in Chesham. A right old palaver getting them through his front door but fortunately, he had patio doors round the back. He was driving them with a home made, flea watt SET and only played classical music at a whisper.

Very nice, but purely on sonics, I don't think I'd swap them for the JBL 4355s... One day, me wants 2 x 15" woofaz, side-by-side on each speaker, to see how much 'mayhem' that causes!! :eyebrows:
I've always felt that, with big drive units, wide baffles (rather than than necessarily tall or deep cabinets) was the way to go, for ultimate scale and dynamic impact, and so JBL got the shape right with the 4355s and the Everests.
It's totally against current fashion and convention, but it works!!

Mmm... After having a dig around on YouTube, I think that I might love these Hartsfields even more than the 4355s (especially their gorgeous retro looks):

Great vid, and the speakers were handled by the staff, throughout, with such imacculate care. However, listen to how those babies sound at the end of the video... Truly mind-blowing! :eek:
I presume that Kenrick Sound is somewhere in Japan? Defo somewhere I'd like to visit, as they sell kit that is right up my street!!

Well, when we get to Japan, that's once place I'll defo be visiting! Incidentally, what did you think of the Hartsfields?
I know that it's hard to tell from a YT video, but allowing for the inherent sonic limitations as best as possible, they still sounded incredibly 'widescreen', vivid, open and dynamic, with a beautifully textued and expressive midrange, and suitably 'huge'! :eek:
'Normal' speakers, certainly those made today, just don't sound anything like that, i.e. so musically 'real'.

Agreed, the Hartsfields do sound nice and real and by the looks of it without any boundary reinforcement too.
