I thought it would be useful to gather all known remote control apps for the popular Logitech Touch music streamer into one thread.

I'll start with Squeeze Remote by 7Illusions, a Windows 8 App. It works very nicely on both my Windows 8 64-bit desktop and Microsoft Surface RT tablet machines, controlling many of the Touch's functions and including the all-important ability to search through my local media library and also through Spotify's vast music library. You can control your Touch in two ways, either directly via your LMS (Logitech Media Server) software, or via mysqueezebox.com. There are a few idiosyncrasies in the UI but it's continually being improved and I find I'm using it every day to control music coming from my 'big rig'. The App costs £3.19 and is available as a trial.

This is Squeeze Remote for Windows Phone 8, which also works well.

I use Squeeze Commander on Samsung Tablet and Sony Phone. Can be a bit laggy with large directories other than that easy to use.

Thanks, Steve. Is that for the Android platform? Any chance of a screenshot?

Hi Martin, some SqueezeCommander screen shots available on the Google play site...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cedata.android.squeezecommander&hl=en

...I've been using it for a few years, and very good it is too, especially if one uses the local cache options

Just tried it on my new tablet (Samsung Note 8.0) and it runs like a greased weasel, and that's with over 2K albums... :)

Hi Steve, what version of LMS are you running, I've found that since going to 7.2 things have really speeded up, I think the embedded SQLite DB has provided a big performance gain...

As a MediaMonkey user I prefer to use MonkeySqueeze (http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/browse/item/monkeysqueeze/)

Hi Stan, does MediaMonkey/MonkeySqueeze replace LMS in your setup, or does it work in conjunction with it?

Edit; Just answered my own question...

I´m using "Orange Squeeze (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.orangebikelabs.orangesqueeze)" from an Android tab.
As a "fallback" solution I have also installed the official "Logitech Squeezebox Controller (https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/logitech-squeezebox-controller/id431302899?mt=8)" app on my iPhone.

btw...music is stored on a Syno NAS running LMS.

Cheers,
Markus

That link doesn't give the answer, so was it a yes that it replaces LMS?
Cos I believe it's that (LMS) that keeps causing my Touch to crash and keep powering off before restarting.

You're right it doesn't work...

Go to the main page http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/browse/item/monkeysqueeze/?ClickID=cxwwkqfse7f7vqlseaanlkvenwxxppxakkzi

...and select 'Support'

Simplistically it works in conjunction with LMS, so it's not a replacement

Still can't work out the 'link' problem...works when entered into a browser

FYI I'm using LMS 7.2 (QNAP NAS), with 2 Touches (Both EDO & synchronised), a Boom, and an SB3, all wi-fi, without any issues

If you try to access the link via anything but a PC you might get redirected.

Thanks everyone so far. Some more screenshots would be useful to get a feel for different apps - don't forget to tell us which platform(s) they work on.

Going via XP laptop and Chrome, if I paste it into the Chrome address it works, but not as a link from the forum page...

Some page headers have a redirection link that detects the type of browser, OS, and screen size. They then jump to a particular page on the accessed site.
I use a similar redirection script when I have a special offer for AoS members.

I use the Logitech Squeezebox remote on my iPad you can get from the Appstore and also have a physical Logitech Squeezebox remote which was designed to partner the Squeezebox Duo but works very well with both my Classic and Touch :)

I have a Touch, and I can access My Music off my PC using the standard SBT remote. I recently received a Nexus 7 and so got the Squeezebox Touch app so that I can also control my Touch from that.

On the Squeezebox Touch Home page on my Nexus 7 it lists the following functions:

Internet Radio
Search
My Apps
App Gallery
Favorites
Settings

However, there is no My Music showing. Am I not able to control the My Music function from the Nexus 7? I quite like to access all my CD rips off my PC via the SBT, but when I am sat at the other side of the room I cannot see the screen so thought the Nexus 7 would fit the bill. I am a complete novice when it comes to all this stuff, so I am wondering whether I have not done something fundamental when setting it all up meaning that this function appears to be not available.

Sounds a bit odd, Dave. You can certainly access My Music from the apps I listed in post #1 and #2.
Perhaps someone else using the same app can help?

It's very strange. I've got the same Squeezebox App on my phone and that can access my music library no problem.

I'll have a proper look at it again tomorrow.

I have to select 'local media server' on the SB Classic using the std remote, before opening app to get to my local media when using this app. Give that a go, just don't open the app first, get the player connected to the local server first.

Hope this helps.
