Global 'Big Brother' is watching you in ways you haven't even envisaged yet.
There are ways to stay below the radar though. Use your imagination and wits and you can do most things anonymously.

I'm not surprised tbh; I think they'll take the piss and do what they like, all of the time, why wouldn't they?
Wonder if anything will come of it?
Potentially it can either blow the doors open or apathy will kick in.
Significant find, mind you I'd be more surprised if they weren't doing this.

Most people won't care or have short memories; what would people want from this and how can we ever be sure we've really got it? I mean, we were ok for the last 7 years, oh hang on...
I'd be more surprised and worried if they weren't doing this. That's not to say they they are successful at find stuff.....but the recent commercial advances in Big Data analytical software and hardware make the job much easier. Providing any information is actioned on for major misdemeanours (ie terrorism) then I think that's a fair trade-off for the loss of privacy. Anyway courts wouldn't accept this type of evidence for speeding tickets or undertaking on motorways :)).
I'd be more worried about certain nations providing chips for our defence systems, these can be seeded with disabling code.
After careful consideration I have decided that the United States suffers from Bi-polar disorder. What need is there to monitor the phone conversations of innocent citizens? Perhaps if the US government stopped riding rough shod over other cultures and its own people in the name of freedom and democracy there wouldn't be the need for such paranoiac behaviour by their administration. IMHO it is the US government that is destabilising world society by acting like a bully. To illustrate their 'bull in a china shop' approach to foreign policy try watching the BBC series The Iraq War. You can find it on iPlayer.

Not that the yanks are very good at it how long did it take them to find Bin Laden and he was sitting in his house !!!!!!!

Technologies such as these have to rely on a sort of profiling to identify who's a wrong un and who's ok.. so more random teapot for prime minister, I'll be voting barbeque party in the next erection and will only give up my hatstand when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Walking around london, as you do, this week, i saw two people (separate occassions) partially covering their face each time they walked by a camera, one with a newspaper, the other with his hand.

As said already, I would be extremely surprised if it wasn't happening. Particularly now with all the nutters around. Without this kind of surveillance, I suspect one or two nasty things might have happened that were nipped in the bud.
I know its easy to complain about one's civil liberties and all that but, much as I hate the idea of Big Brother, it is some relief that there is at least one way of reducing the risk of being blown up in the street, not much probably but every little helps. I am sure this is the excuse that will be made for all the surveillance anyway.

I wouldn't worry.
The Yanks and the UK are scoring an 'own goal' to a great extent. They are gaining access to more and more information and consequently have less and less ability to deal with it all. They have to screen it in an increasingly discriminating manner just to get through it. There really isn't anybody watching you or listening in on your calls or studying your internet use, or checking your transactions, unless you are a particular subject of interest, or use key words, terms or terminology or have behaviour patterns which attract attention by prompting automated alerts.
I used to send rubbish emails to mates with loads of key attention grabbing phrases and words, just to hopefully piss Big Brother off. Along with a paragraph saying that now I had his attention, he could go and f**k himself. Never did find out if it worked.
Obama's not came out smelling good over this...

but I think the trick is to not give a damn.
Do what you gotta do, just live your life, browse whatever (consenting adult) pron that takes your fancy and be a good person. "Love thy neighbour" and neither wear a tinfoil hat and waste time where you could be getting groovy or hurt those close (or far away) in a way that matters.
Its the Political system since Callaghan thats got me so apathetic, honest!
