There's a Micro 25 and Series 7 pre on ebay WITH UPGRADED FRONT PANELS ! What is all this posh Croft upgrade stuff ? I want some now !

Ok, going for a bit of a smirk and a smile but I could ;-). I want I want I want !

Bet they sound better, like your car goes better when you've just washed and polished it.

Woops, edited my post to add they were on ebay, not mine ! Don't know what you mean about the Harbs though Didier, was some other complete fool on another forum that went public on thinking he'd blown his speakers ;-). What a bloody idiot. Same initials as me though, coincidence or what. Now where's that running off and hiding icon thing ?

Just saw the combo on ebay. I don't like the new look...prefer older look!!

There is no "new look" - Glenn knows nothing about the perspex front panels. Nothing to do with him.

I spoke with Glenn this morning and the perspex front panels are nothing to do with him. They are not a Croft product..

Yuk!. And you guys think that looks good - just to create some tacky shiny effect? :spew:

It just looks wrong. Part of the charm with Croft gear is its 'home-made', 'science lab' looks. Personally, I wouldn't mess with it.

I think the panels look very smart :ner:

Yes, but you're renowned for having no taste! ;)

To me, they simply look like a cheap stuck-on afterthought. Sorry! If the whole front panel or chassis were made from acrylic (a la DNM, for example), that would be a different matter.

Now *THAT* does look good (and still rather quaintly 'old school')! :exactly:

That's Al's influence rubbing off on me that is, I am a confirmed student of Pishanto :D

Dunno what your permissions are set to in your ImageShack account Marco but I still can't see any pics you post dude. I've not been able to view any for about three months now

Haven't a scooby, dude. How do you adjust your permissions and what effect does it have? I can certainly see the pics. How about others?

Are you sure it's not a problem at your end?

It would seem to be an ImageShack thing, whether it is at my end or yours is a mystery to me. Although I can see images that other members post using IS they usually take an age to load and occasionally they fail to as well :eyebrows:

Mmm... That defo sounds like an Imageshack thing, in conjunction with whatever is going on at your end. Any images I post, or those I look at belonging to others, when they've used IS (or indeed PB), load instantly!

If you want to see pics of the DNM amp I posted, click here: http://www.dnm.co.uk/preamp.html

Very nice that. I am quite partial to Albarry amps for the same reason, and they sound bloody good too :)

As for image hosting sites, I have no problem with images from the other major players, it is just IS. My internet connection is fine, I am currently getting 22mb/s with a ping rate of 15ms and that is with me streaming from Spotify. It would be good if we could solve this issue because it is becoming a royal PITA. If it helps any of the tech bods, my lappy attempts to display the images but all I get is the 'busy' blue circle appearing for about 2 mins and navigating the page becomes very difficult due to a sluggish response while the 'circle' is cycling.

Which browser are you using - have you tried using a different one? :)

Regarding DNM, or indeed Albarry, perhaps now you can see how the earlier Crofts pictured, with their cheapo stuck-on acrylic fronts, look like poor relations in comparison? If you're going to do a job, then do it right! I can't stand bodges.

I am using Chrome but the same thing occurs when using IE, Firefox and Safari. I have also switched to my desktop and Jo's lappy and the result is the same

We have had this convo before and IIRC there were members who commented that they could see the pics you'd posted. It is a complete mystery for sure...

I sympathise and hope you resolve the problem soon, but regardless of that, can you see where I'm coming from, in terms of the aesthetics of the amps in question? :)

I think it is just apiece of clear acrylic over the normal front panel - held in place by the four bolts.

Marco

...and lovely it is not.

I understand why you don't like them but I still think they look cool. There's no hope for me ya know, I am a lost cause... :D
